The CR2 batteries are commercially available and have a service life of approx. 1-2 years, which corresponds to approx. 10,000 openings. If the battery loses its power, the lock transmits an SOS in Morse code when operated (3 short flashes, 3 long, 3 short). This message is displayed for the last 5-10 closures, after which the lock will not lock again until a new battery has been inserted. The lock has an internal memory so the saved fingerprints do not have to be resaved.
